Michael A. Topp

President and CEO
COL (Ret) Michael Topp is experienced in combat area environments through his personal involvement and assignments as a Transportation Officer in Southeast and Southwest Asia. He was stationed in the Republic of Vietnam where he commanded the 515th Transportation Company, the 6th 33rd CC&S Company, and served as the Operations Officer at the Da Nang deep water pier in Vietnam. As the Battalion Commander of the 49th Transportation Battalion at Fort Hood TX, he deployed the unit to Saudi Arabia and commanded the Northern-most theater level Movement Control Center, supporting the 18th and 7th Corps for Desert Storm. He was also assigned to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) as the Director of Transportation and was responsible for moving Class I perishables to the PACOM Theater of Operations through West Coast seaports.
COL (Ret) Topp served in many transportation positions throughout his military career. He took on an assignment to USAEUR with the 4th Trans Brigade 2nd Movement Region in Kaiserslautern, Germany, with a follow on assignment as the Chief of a Transportation Movement Office in Stuttgart, Germany. Mr. Topp also served as the Unit Movement Officer with Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC), now known as SDDC, in Washington DC. He furthered his transportation career as Transportation Management Officer (TMO) Chief with the 4th Trans Brigade, 3rd Movement Region, Chief of the Motor Clearance Authority in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Executive Officer of the 25th Transportation Battalion for USFK, and Project Manager for the Department of the Army Movement Management System-Redesign (DAMMS-R).
In his last active duty assignment, he served as the Director of Logistics Automation for the US Army. He was the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical advisor for the implementation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and the Mobile Tracking System (MTS) during Operations in Somalia and Haiti.
In his first role out of uniform, Mr. Topp was the Project Lead for the Joint Total Asset Visibility (JTAV) program. He wrote the in-theater concept for the In-Transit Visibility (ITV) program and deployed as a contractor to Germany to implement the ITV program during the Bosnian crisis.
In October 2000 Mr. Topp and long-time colleague Duncan “Andy” Thomasson began forming LOGISTICS 2020. The first contract was awarded to LOGISTICS 2020 in May 2003.
